What we check before we wash
We inspect every hand-knotted rug and document condition with photos, then check dye stability before it goes near water so we use the right products. If the colors bleed, we adjust.
What it costs
Priced by length × width, with no extra charge for cleaning fringe. No deposit required — you get a written quote first, and you pay when the job is finished.

Pickup & delivery orders have a $250 minimum. Drop-off (by appointment) has no minimum — you pay straight per-square-foot pricing. Getting into a building, checking in, and moving equipment between our van and your unit takes extra time and effort, so all apartment and condo buildings have a $500 minimum for any service.

What we actually do to your rug
Check-in and inspection
Each rug is logged on its own line with photos, and any existing damage, stains or wear is noted before we touch it. We also check dye stability on every rug so we use the right products.
Dry dusting
Dry soil hides deep at the base of the pile. We remove it before water goes on, so you don't end up with muddy rinse water.
Wash
Your rug is washed on our raised rug wash floor, not spot-cleaned in place.
Rinse and extract
It's rinsed thoroughly and spun in our centrifuge, which pulls out most of the water so it dries faster and cleaner.
Climate-controlled drying
Rugs dry in our temperature-controlled drying room so they're completely dry when you get them back.
Final inspection and return
We check the results, then roll your rug and band it with shrink wrap. It comes back to you (or is ready for pickup) rolled and banded. We only wrap a rug fully for long-term storage.

Between cleanings: Vacuum regularly on low suction with no beater bar. Rotate the rug now and then to even out wear and sun, use a quality rug pad, keep it out of direct sun, and blot spills.

Questions
Will washing damage or fade my rug?
Hand-knotted wool rugs are built to be washed. The real risk is unstable dye, which is why we check dye stability on every rug and use the right products.
Why does it cost more than other fibers?
These rugs are heavier, hold much more soil, and need careful dusting, inspection, dye testing and longer drying. They're also worth more, so the care matters.
Is my old rug worth washing?
Usually, yes. Age isn't a reason to skip it, but it does mean we inspect first.
Do you clean the fringe?
Yes, at no extra charge. On these rugs, the fringe is part of the rug.
What if the rug needs repair or color restoration?
We provide color restoration on rugs. Tell us at pickup or drop-off and we'll note it at intake.
How can I tell if my rug is hand-knotted?
Flip it over. The pattern on the back looks as crisp as the front, with tiny knots in rows, and the fringe is part of the rug's structure.
Will you get pet urine out?
